Love and the Devil (symphonic metal poem) lyrics

Under darkening skies of crimson
beyond the misty shores of Life
she walks through the fields of asphodels
as the wind carries to her ears
the whisper of the long forgotten dead.

Down to the lava-lit caves she goes,
her feet aching on the stairs of stone,
to bring some Light to those that mourn in darkness,
cursed forever, lost in the world of shadows.

In his throne of black the Dark one awaits,
breathing sulfur and exhaling fire,
a questioning smile on his charred lips.

[Love:]
I am Love,
the Sun's golden chalice,
mother of all that's worthy of existence!
Where I pass flowers blossom,
the ancient snow melts
and the hearts open to the Dawn
I am the Queen of light
and when I dance, the souls dance with me.
No one can resist my beauty,
and be deaf to my word
for I am in the birds song
and the caress of the wind.
I am the child of the Sun
and I came to set right something
that went wrong long time ago,
for I give bliss and comfort to the rich and the poor alike.

[Devil:]
And I am the Dark one,
the sole king of this flaming regions
where all the cursed are doomed to dwell
I step on bare bones and feed on destruction,
but you are no better than me.
A foolish one you are and ignorant,
for your right hand distributes happiness
and the left one – despair and devastation.
Behold your creation, and despair!
Take a look at that blue flower
at the base of my throne -
of someone whom you poisoned
with love that was never requited
Oh, he was noble and good
but she led him into sin
and for her sake he tarnished his soul
just to be left in the end
And now his sorrow replenishes the dark
rivers of my kingdom.
But he loves her still – this is your doing -
and knows no peace.

[Love:]
That's what I came for.

Then Love with a swift motion took the flower away
and crushed it between her soft fingers.
